Motor Vehicle Engineering Lecturer – FE

About the Role

New City College is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and industry-qualified Motor Vehicle Engineering Lecturer to join the curriculum team at its Hackney Campus. You will teach young people and adult learners on college-based and work-based programmes from Entry Level to Level 3.

The role focuses on delivering engaging theory and practical sessions in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles, enabling learners to achieve their qualifications, progress and prepare for employment. This is a permanent, part-time role working 21 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday. The salary is £20,800 to £32,000 actual salary (£34,000 to £53,000 FTE), plus a £1,248 Central London Allowance.

Applicants should hold a teaching qualification such as a PGCE, DTLLS or Cert Ed, or be willing to work towards one. An A1 Assessor Award or equivalent is essential, while a V1 Internal Verifier qualification is desirable. You will also need proven experience of delivering and assessing Motor Vehicle Engineering training.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver effective Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles lessons from Entry Level to Level 3.

• Teach and assess practical and theoretical work in line with City & Guilds standards.

• Act as a personal tutor and mentor, providing appropriate academic and pastoral support.

• Design flexible, learner-centred and employer-responsive training programmes.

• Ensure qualifications and assessments comply with awarding-body requirements.

• Contribute to curriculum planning, course reviews and continuous quality improvement.

• Develop productive relationships with employers and industry partners.

• Support the growth of Motor Vehicle provision by identifying training needs and promoting college services.
