About the Role

New City College is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Health & Social Care Lecturer to join its Havering Sixth Form team in Hornchurch. You will inspire and support learners studying programmes from entry level to Level 3, delivering high-quality teaching and contributing to ongoing curriculum development.

This is a part-time, casual role offering variable hours in line with curriculum needs. The rate is £30.12 to £46.93 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is available to start as soon as possible.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available. Appointment will be subject to relevant pre-employment and safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check. The closing date is 3 September 2026 at 8am.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Health & Social Care teaching and assess learners’ progress effectively.

• Plan and develop high-quality lessons, learning resources and curriculum content.

• Provide academic and pastoral support that enables learners to achieve their goals and progress.

• Maintain appropriate quality standards, records and regulatory compliance.

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.

Applicants should have experience of teaching or training in Health & Social Care and hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised teaching qualification. A relevant Health & Social Care qualification is required, while knowledge of biology is desirable. Strong subject knowledge, communication and organisational skills are essential, alongside the ability to motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
