About the Role

Westcliff High School for Boys Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to join its successful and growing department from 1 January 2027. This is a full-time, permanent position with an FTE salary of £22,601–£51,048 per annum. Early career teachers are warmly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will teach a broad secondary curriculum encompassing Design and Technology, Product Design and Engineering. Pupils follow a carefully sequenced programme in Years 7 to 9, progressing to AQA Design and Technology at GCSE and AQA Product Design in the Sixth Form.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available. CVs will not be accepted. The closing date is 18 September 2026 at 12pm (midday).

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging Design and Technology lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Develop pupils’ independence, creativity, design thinking, practical making and examination skills.
Maintain high expectations and contribute to the department’s strong GCSE and A-level outcomes.
Use workshops, traditional machinery, the computer suite, laser cutting technology and 3D printers effectively and safely.
Support enrichment opportunities, including Technology Club, CAD Club, Robotics Society and Engineering Society.
Contribute to programmes such as Arkwright Scholarships, the Industrial Cadet Gold Award and CREST Awards.
Uphold the school’s safeguarding responsibilities and complete all required pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
