About Newfield School
Newfield School is a specialist school in Blackburn, Lancashire, providing education for children and young people aged 4 to 19. Serving learners from the primary years through to post-16, the school combines education, care and therapy within a child-centred environment. Its ethos is rooted in safeguarding, dignity, inclusion and high-quality personalised support, enabling pupils with complex and varied needs to participate in school life and work towards meaningful outcomes.
The school supports 242 pupils with autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, complex medical needs, sensory impairments and physical disabilities. Its specialist provision is designed to address educational, communication, health, medical, physical and general care needs in a coordinated way. Staff use approaches and resources such as Makaton, PECS and communication aids, while close teamwork helps pupils access the outcomes set out in their Education, Health and Care Plans.
