Newfield School is seeking enthusiastic and committed Education Health Care Assistants to join its specialist provision from 19 October 2026. This is a permanent, part-time, term-time-only position working 32.5 hours per week, from 8.30am to 3.30pm each day for 39 weeks per year, including five professional development days.
The actual salary is £18,846 to £19,444 per year, based on a full-time equivalent Grade C salary of £24,796 to £25,583, or £12.85 to £13.26 per hour. Staff must also work until 5pm on six planned occasions each year for training and class-team meetings.
You will support pupils aged 4 to 19 with a wide range of complex educational, health, communication and care needs. Relevant experience is welcomed, but the school places particular value on a caring, patient and genuinely child-centred approach.
The school is unable to provide visa sponsorship. The closing date is 11 September 2026 at 5pm.
Working under the direction of teachers and senior colleagues, you will help individual pupils and groups work towards the outcomes identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans.
Support pupils’ educational, medical, physical, health and general care needs in line with agreed plans.
Promote communication through agreed approaches, including Makaton, PECS and communication aids.
Assist teachers with pupil support, classroom organisation and the creation of an inclusive learning environment.
Build positive, respectful relationships with children and young people who have complex and varied needs.
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, care and medical procedures consistently.
Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, medical clearance, satisfactory references, right-to-work checks and an online search.
