About Blanche Nevile School
Blanche Nevile School is a special school for deaf children and young people aged 3 to 16 in North London. Established in 1895, the school serves pupils from the early years through Key Stage 4 and is guided by an inclusive, child-centred ethos. Its sign-bilingual approach uses British Sign Language and English to support communication, learning, confidence and personal development, recognising and valuing each pupil’s individual strengths and needs.
The school has approximately 97 pupils and provides specialist teaching in small classes alongside carefully planned opportunities for high-quality inclusion. Its primary provision is co-located with Highgate Primary School, while its secondary provision is co-located with Fortismere School. This distinctive arrangement enables pupils to benefit from specialist deaf education as well as links with mainstream school communities. A multidisciplinary focus on wellbeing, communication and tailored support underpins the school’s work across both sites.
Staff join a knowledgeable and committed team of deaf and hearing colleagues who work collaboratively to secure positive educational and wellbeing outcomes. The environment offers valuable experience in specialist SEND and deaf education, together with opportunities to develop therapeutic, trauma-informed and sign-bilingual practice. Employees can expect a supportive professional culture, access to development and feedback, a workplace pension, and the rewarding opportunity to make a sustained difference to children and young people.
