Heathside Walton-on-Thames is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join the school in September 2026. This is a permanent, term-time-only opportunity within an Ofsted-rated Outstanding secondary school for pupils aged 11 to 16.
The advertised five-day arrangement is 27.08 hours per week, 8:30am to 3:10pm, for 38.4 weeks per year. Both part-time and full-time positions are available. The role is paid from ELM3, with a full-time equivalent salary of ÂŁ24,330 and an actual salary of ÂŁ15,502 per annum for the advertised hours.
This position may particularly suit graduates or those considering a career in teaching who would like to build valuable experience supporting pupils in and beyond the secondary classroom.
The successful candidate will support pupils’ learning, development and engagement while contributing positively to the wider life of the school.
Provide effective classroom and wider learning support for pupils across KS3 and KS4
Build calm, professional and encouraging relationships with young people
Communicate effectively with teaching staff, parents and external agencies
Undertake relevant administrative tasks using sound IT and organisational skills
Work flexibly and collaboratively as part of the school team
Uphold safeguarding procedures and the school’s commitment to pupil welfare
