Tymberwood Academy is looking to appoint two positive and dependable Catering Assistants to help provide nutritious meals and welcoming service for its primary-aged pupils. Two part-time opportunities are available: 15 hours per week and 10 hours per week, both working 38 weeks per year during term time. These are permanent, part-time positions with an ASAP start, subject to satisfactory safer recruitment checks.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working around children and can remain calm, organised and efficient during a busy lunch service. A friendly manner, practical approach and commitment to high standards of hygiene and customer service are essential. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available.
Prepare fresh vegetables, salads, fruit and other food under the kitchen manager's supervision.
Carry out simple cooking duties as directed by the kitchen manager.
Serve meals to pupils and other customers safely, efficiently and courteously.
Complete washing-up and general kitchen and dining-room duties.
Move tables and chairs and undertake sweeping, mopping and cleaning tasks.
Help maintain clean, hygienic and well-organised kitchen and surrounding areas.
Respond positively to customer needs and contribute to an enjoyable lunchtime experience.
Follow relevant food safety legislation, school procedures and instructions from the kitchen manager.
Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and all other applicable safer recruitment checks.
The salary is £26,168 per year FTE (Kent KSA Top), paid pro rata according to contracted hours and term-time working.
