Ormiston Queensmill Academy is seeking a dynamic, empathetic and skilled Designated Safeguarding Lead to join its Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the Head of School, the successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership for safeguarding and child protection across the academy and its specialist provisions.
This is a full-time, permanent role with an actual annual salary of Ā£47,264āĀ£50,053. The post is available to start as soon as possible, subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. The role requires a thoughtful and authoritative safeguarding professional who can ensure that children and young people with autism and complex needs are safe, heard and appropriately supported. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.
Provide strategic and operational leadership for safeguarding and child protection across the academy.
Maintain robust safeguarding systems and oversee the quality and consistency of safeguarding practice.
Ensure compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children and relevant local safeguarding thresholds.
Embed a vigilant, pupil-centred safeguarding culture that reflects the needs of learners with SEND, autism and complex needs.
Work closely with the Head of School, Senior Leadership Team, staff and external professionals to secure timely, effective support.
Oversee individual safeguarding cases while identifying themes, risks and priorities at whole-school level.
Candidates will need strong knowledge of statutory safeguarding guidance, relevant safeguarding leadership experience in a school or specialist setting, and an informed understanding of safeguarding within a SEND context. Sullivan supports pupils in EYFS and Key Stage 1, while Q4 at Fulham Cross Academy supports secondary-aged pupils who may access selected mainstream lessons alongside specialist provision.
