Cover Supervisor – Secondary

About the Role

The Morley Academy is seeking an inspirational and committed Cover Supervisor to maintain continuity of learning when teaching staff are absent for short periods. Working across KS3, KS4 and KS5, you will supervise pre-planned lessons and create a calm, purposeful classroom environment in which students can engage successfully.

This is a part-time, casual role, paid at £15.31 per hour, with a start date as soon as possible. The position offers flexible opportunities to gain broad experience within a high-performing secondary academy. Applications close at 9am on 8 September 2026. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students complete the work provided.

• Engage and motivate young people while maintaining high expectations for conduct and learning.

• Manage classroom behaviour calmly, consistently and in line with academy policies.

• Respond confidently and professionally to different subjects, year groups and classroom situations.

• Communicate effectively with teaching and pastoral colleagues about students’ work, behaviour and welfare.

• Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the academy.

Applicants must hold GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent, and have experience of working with young people. Strong communication, interpersonal and classroom-management skills are essential, alongside a calm, flexible and professional approach.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and other relevant safer-recruitment checks.
