Hatchside School

Hatchside School is a free special school in Ilford, within the London Borough of Redbridge, serving children aged 2 to 7 across the early years and primary phases. Part of Astrum Multi Academy Trust, the school supports pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties alongside complex additional needs. Its ethos centres on compassion, collaboration, innovation, ambition and belonging, with an inclusive approach that places each child’s safety, dignity, development and life chances at the heart of school life.

Opened in April 2021, Hatchside School serves approximately 102 pupils from diverse communities across Redbridge and East London. Its specialist provision supports children with needs including sensory impairments, autism, associated behaviours, and physical and medical needs. Pupils benefit from carefully structured learning, care and social opportunities that recognise individual communication, sensory, mobility and health requirements. The school is committed to safeguarding, equality and diversity, and works to provide a safe, engaging environment in which every pupil can participate, develop independence and build positive relationships.
